Hartlepool boxer qualifies for Rio Olympics

Hartlepool boxer Savannah Marshall has fit the bill for the Rio Olympics.

The 25-year-old beat China's Quan Li in the quarter-finals of the Women's World Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan to end up Great Britain's tenth boxer to fit the bill for Rio.

Marshall takes one of four capability places on offer at the Championships in the middleweight classification. She is likewise now ensured no less than a bronze decoration at the World Championships.

Marshall will join flyweight Nicola Adams as Team GB's lone female boxers in Brazil, alongside Galal Yafai, Muhammed Ali, Qais Ashfaq, Joe Cordina, Antony Fowler, Joshua Buatsi, Lawrence Okolie and Joe Joyce in the Men's classifications.
